I've worked as a software developer for 25 years and there's one inalienable truth that stands throughout; Change annoys people.

Doesn't matter whether it's double-freaking-plus awesome or wrong, someone will be annoyed. It's the developer/designers job to fight the instinctive urge to add an option, to allow the new and old to run side by side. Don't do it. It's bad.

I find the new system to be simple. There's no "scanning" needed. Just punch in your requirements and BAM! the matching list appears as if by magic. If it could be simpler it would have to be reading your mind.

Of course the other inalienable truth is that you cannot please all of the people all of the time so we generally work to the 80-20 rule (like auto-makers, people that builds homes, just about everything) because if you don't the rule of diminishing returns quickly kicks you in the balance sheet and you learn the hard way...but you will learn.

There, that's my rant over. Phew. Love the new system and it's going to be awesome when the wrinkles are ironed and people start using it en masse. Woohoo!
I really have no clue.

Ok getting the hang of it now lol... i think it would be quite good though if there was an option where you could save your search... ie: seeking casting calls for models ... paid work.. and then a box to save this option... so you don't have to keep selecting what you are looking for each time unless you specifically are looking for TF or something else.  x

Btw Russ, lol yeah true someone will always moan, someone will always be ranting .. can't please everyone lol... i think it's pretty good... just takes a little getting used to that's all emoticon

It would be good as I have already said if you could specify genre . I turned off the mailings as they were full of unsuitable things. Oh have they got West Midlands now? Good but I'd still like to be able to search two or more regions at once as I'm near Wales.

I was just writing a negative post about how confusing the new casting call system is and then went back into it again to get a specific example and this time I just totally clicked with the whole thing lol.

So instead of a negative post it's thumbs up from me Matt emoticon

Matt fought the demon and won ... about sixty hours into the process, when some missing jigsaw components fell into place.

I'm happy with it but would like to suggest one thing to the mods.. and I figure this will get checked.

In the future, not when you're still manic sorting out bugs and such, it would be really useful to have a link in the pm section to the casting call you applied to.

I suggest this as I applied to several last night. I got a response from one and couldn't remember the details as I'd read them all.

I returned to the castings section but couldn't find it! I therefore had to guess the details as best I could in my response.

Perhaps the casting details (date, posted by, info typed) could be shown in the pm sent? So when the person who applied recieves a response they can see the details.

Sorry if that's not clearly explained, I'm all fluey and my head isn't working as well today as normal!

I find it a lot easier to use, better to sort what you're looking for. Except there's no work going at the moment!! GET ON IT PEOPLE AND START POSTING!!
