I think Purestorm is a great site and the admin team do a really great job. I know it is easy to criticise new ideas and so I hope that this is seen as positive feedback and not negativity but I far prefer the previous method of models seeking work sections which I found far easier to use to the new Castings section. I agree with Digicam that the new system will make me less inclined to use Purestorm as it is now slow to refer to and cumbersome. There is too much to sort in one section and you cannot look back to find a previous post easily. I’m afraid the old adage springs to mind that  'if it aint broke, don’t fix it!!!

In fact I'd go further and say it's awful.
Far too slow to use, you have to scroll through pages of irrelevant stuff in the hope of finding something of interest.

Normally I like the changes Purestorm comes up with but this one is a dreadful

It was broke and it needed fixing.

I would like to be notified of casting calls in my area. A forum is a bad place for that.

I would like to find casting calls in my area - the forum meant I had to do something a computer can do in milliseconds: scan.

Where are all my casting calls? randomly scattered in forums. Now they are not.

Using a forum as a casting call system was, at best, a quick fix. Now we have a system let's improve it, make it awesome instead of looking back over our shoulders to a system we knew but was RussFreeman is a naughty person anyway.

The new system has problems and missing bits but in the end it's going to be so much better than the old forum that you'll be embarassed that the old system stayed for so long.
I really have no clue.

Well, is the answer a to have the choice of both features to provide the ultimate service? I like this site very much, as it is engaging and I find it user friendly on every level. Change can be difficult for some people to handle and it is all to easy to knock new ideas, but personally I found the previous method fast and easy to navigate. On saying that, I think Matt and the team do a brilliant job and for me this is the best site to be part of. So, if it is possible to please all the people, then maybe we could have both options if it is technically viable.

I prefer to be able to search for the location, rather than have to trawl through pages and pages of posts just in the off chance of someone local posting a casting call. Unless you visited the old pages daily, you could easily miss something.

No, not at all. It's a disservice in fact. Providing "options" just leads to confusion. Better to have one system that works well then two systems that work "okay".

Focus on the future, use the new system and help make it better instead of hankering after the old. The new system is already better than the old system and it's only going to improve.

I really have no clue.

meh.

im not a fan of the casting section either. probably cos im lazy, but i cant be arsed scrolling thru casting calls page after page, and still not be able to see at a glance what type of job it is. and if you DO apply for something, you cant just click back to be taken to where you were, you have to start all over again on page one and trawl thru the 4 pages to get back to where you were.

i still think purestorm is the best model site out there for UK peeps, i just hope this casting call thingie doesnt deter new members, or scare off old members....

Hi, It does have one serious flaw and a few minor ones> The serious flaw is locality. I live in Glasgow but would shoot in Edinburgh, Perth, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, etc. I have to literally search each area in turn to get any results.
That's not quicker, it is slower, by a long way of measurement. Previous casting were immediately seen and ignored if I had already read them and disgarded the poster.
People are getting it wrong - getting photoghraphers instead of models in some castings. That will iron out as they realise their mistake.
The point is - they are making mistakes which must mean there is confusion.

So, it's not quicker and it is not easier.

I should add that I think this is a great site and the Mods do regulate well - this is not having a go but merely pointing out a few issues that hopefully could be addressed?
