Finally people have commented that the D800 is suitable for landscapes, whilst the D4 is built for speed with better weather proofing, surely landscape photography NEEDS weather proofing, was that not one of the plus points on the medium format Pentax, it's the only digital medium format body which IS weatherproofed?

after todays weather i can certainly vouch for the weather proofing of the d800

Well that's good, mechanical cameras getting wet is bad news, but electronics and water just don't mix

I've had a bit longer to play now and used the D800 on one shoot with a local model. I have a converted raw file taken at 1/500 85mm 1.4 and it is now hanging as a 3ft print in the studio. Pin sharp. Lovely camera to use.
Just gotta get used to the huge files which do slow down the processing and write speeds on old cards. A raw saved as a psd file came in at 206.9mb!
Great camera if you arent trigger happy.

I heard that my D800 is coming in today. I am one of those people with a D3x who has been grabbed by the pixel count. I do shoot shock so pixels do matter to me. However I am not sure which camera I really want. The D3x has been a dream I love the handling on it, yes, it is heavy but it is really well laid out.

I guess this is one of the nicer choices in life, really good camera or really good camera.
