So much for progress on women's rights in Afghanistan.

Once again, 6 more British soldiers have lost their lives whilst helping Western governments prop up a corrupt government regime in Afghanistan and the death toll will continue to rise until our troops are out of there - over 400 of our troops dead so far and for what?
It's worth reading the following news article but here's an extract which will give an indication of what it contains...

[ An even greater threat to the existing Afghan constitution has now appeared in President Hamid Karzai's tacit endorsement this week of the Ulema Council (religious scholars) recommendations that Afghan society incorporate a stricter "code of conduct," which includes segregation of men and women at work and school, travel restrictions for women, and support for wife beatings based on a husband providing a "Sharia-compliant reason." If applied as such, these recommendations would surely result in a constitutional crisis and be seen by many as political inducement to the Taliban under the aegis of reconciliation.]

No doubt as soon as the last troops leave, the Taliban with their backward, neo-misogynistic culture will return and the plight of women living in Afghanistan will go back to where it was before...treated probably worse than we in Britain treat our dogs!

So much for success and progress in Afghanistan that the politicians would have us believe.
