Don't be silly. Everybody knows it's clementines that give the warm glow.

I thought they all gave out a warm glow but the sizes affected the type of light?  Aren't Jaffa's like a deep octabox and Satsumas give a snoot like light?
Can someone tell me how to put text in this box???

Actually our direct sunlight is WARMER than direct sunlight in Florida etc.. This because at midday the sun for any date is higher in the sky than it is here. When the sun is lower in the sky it has to pass through more atmosphere and this scatters out the blue component leaving it more yellow. You must have experienced this near to sunset?

If the sky is cloudy then that's a different situation.

All you need to do is set your colour temperature higher and your pictures will be more amber......... Set it to 5500K or 5700K or even 5900K and you'll get the feeling you are after.

... tsk, there's always someone who'll come along and spoil a thread with a sensible answer !

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is

Lots of photographers tell me they don't like  bright sunshine to shoot in? They get excited if it's a grey day...

Once trailed round beaches for a whole morning, because photographer reckoned the sunlight was too harsh.

The light down here in Cornwall is very special...that is why so many artists have made a bee-line for St. Ives, West Cornwall.

The model in pictures used as examples has closed eyes...only way to shoot in very bright sunlight, otherwise she would be squinting...

The 'Golden Hour' is best...in evening after a sunny day...gives a gorgeous glow to the model's skin.
Modelling is my passion.

Fake tan.....or shoot through a bottle of irn bru

Some of the larger plastic bottles fit perfectly over the canon 70-200 f2.8 lens.

The other option is for models to consume several litres of Irn Bru 24 hours before a shoot.

I attended a talk by Bruce Smith (fashion photographer) where he discussed lighting for his shoots. The common feature in many of his shoots was the use of California Sunbounce reflectors with natural light.

Rubbish. In 2000 I did a photo project on Skegness and the sky was the bluest I have ever photographed. Mind you it was February  and several days of stiff Easterly winds from the Russian steppes had blown across the North Sea and shifted the near perpetual cloud of codhead fug that lingers in the air around the Humber Estuary.

If you want great light to shoot in you will need to find a way of shifting the aptly named Grimsby about 1100 miles south to the Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) which as its name suggests offers brilliant light for photography due to the combination of latitude and prevailing wind direction.

These were both shot there, one in April and the other in January after a rain shower.

Bob

PS It doesn't help when you've got a brown sea bouncing back muddy light into the sky over the Lincs Coast.

its such a pity that we don't have the light that some of the hotter places around the world have - even on hot days in britain it looks cold on photos you look at a photographer from floridas general outside shots theres always orange / red warm tones all over the place - is there anything we can do apart from editing to get something closer to that here?

Check out the colour of the concrete floor, it's warm. Model looks well tanned.
