| TheStudioMK Photographer Location United Kingdom Buckinghamshire Milton Keynes | http://adrianpinipresents.com/# http://kvmediastudios.com/about-us/ Both are around £25 per hour with discounts for longer bookings Thanks... I found number 1 plain, it looks like it's just white back drops... but I might be missing something I guess... Both seem to reflect day rates around the same as the studio we're going to offer... Our's will be aimed more at the glamour end stuff, as opposed to the fashion end stuff... But thanks for the input... as I have said this is only an idea, and these posts here (and on other sites) are more educational to help me decide if their is any milage in starting a studio... |

| photomane9 Photographer Location United Kingdom London Bexleyheath | Secondly when I have enquired about hiring studios I have been quoted a day rate of around £180-200... and if in London around £300... maybe they're just trying to over charge me for some reason... please feel free to link me to some of these amazing yet super cheap studios as would love to use them myself ? And yes my themes are cheesy lol, but hey that's the kind of glamour I shoot I guess... I know a lot of people that shoot the same sort of glamour... but I agree the market place does seem pretty quite right now I think the studios which charge that sort of day rates are classed as professional - for instance Holborn Studios - and they certainly do not cater for amateurs. A more useful comparison for what you propose might be Murder Mile where the half day rate is £120 for some very well furnished, themed spaces. |

A more useful comparison for what you propose might be Murder Mile where the half day rate is £120 for some very well furnished, themed spaces. Not sure if these are great examples... Holburn Studios seem to rate around £500-£600 a day, I am quoting £180-200 ??? How is that similar ? Murder Mile is a very specalist studio, for the alt scene... and to be fair I cant find any prices... Our studio would definetly not exclude amateurs... infact the complete opposite, that to us would be the bread and butter... I certainly dont consider myself a proffessional, yet I would expect to pay a fair price for a good studio... What do you feel a fair price is for a full days booking ? Every example people have mentioned seem to have a similar pricing for their full day offers ? |

| Keltica Photographer Location United Kingdom Middlesex Twickenham | You keep quoting London studio rates which having no bearing in MK. I use locations in Reading and Bromley although I have my own small studio in Acton, and pay £20 for domestic premises and take my own lighting, but the Reading property has lots of rooms to use, plus a wet room plus a private garden. No use defending your position, you have a business plan, a costing; well go for it. |

| paulcoxphotography Photographer Location United Kingdom Greater Manchester | The price point is uncomfortably between what amateurs would pay and standard pro studio rates in London. If you're looking for amateurs to use the space then between £15 and £25 is the going rate. You may find a niche as some pro studios in Manchester do by charging those full day rates to attract folks out of central London but you'd need to have something special for this to be the case. |

| oscar Photographer Location United Kingdom Cheshire Nr Warrington | I am a bit confused. Your profile states that a new studio opens 1st May. Is this a second studio or have you delayed the opening? The web site that you link to is mainly adult content, presumably this is what you shoot and the prime use for the studio. You must have a business plan which shows how profitable the venture will be based on your own use. The problem with studios is the fact that all photographers end up with the same models in the same settings - unless you can attract models from further away. By having a high hire rate and the cost of a model usage will fall off fairly rapidly. |

| Daz_S Photographer Location United Kingdom Norfolk Nr Kings Lynn | There is studio in the midlands that charges £30p/h and they have 4 sets up stairs, a large infinity cove downstairs big enough for vehicles and a drive-in roller door to enable vehicles to be shot. The studio is fully kitted out with lighting and you get full use of their PCs. The have a large model register as well. £40 P/h seems awfully high.... |

| Paul_Tooth Photographer Location United Kingdom Kent | Have to say being an amateur your hourly rate is excessive at £40/hr and would put me off straight away, I have never come across any other studios charging this much. For a reasonably equipped studio with various sets the going rate is around £30/hr with discounts for longer bookings. Your day rate is competitive but how many amateurs can afford that and to book a model for 8 hours at the moment?, I would say very few... Therefore your hourly rate will be where you will pick up most of your work and I think you have priced yourself out of the current marketplace and would need to look at your current business model and see if you can reduce that to make it work. |
