| MikeDanby Photographer Location United Kingdom East Yorkshire Newport | Hi I'm after some advise on creating an ebook from PDF's, now I know that you can view a PDF file like a book by setting it up with, View - Page Display - Two-Up (selected) & Show Cover Page During Two-Up Display (selected), but I would like a way to set this up / display this way automatically without the viewer having to faf around in all the settings or having to follow instructions to do so, so first off is there a way of doing this? Also is there a way of splicing two PDF files together? Where have these questions come from - well I've just upgraded to Lightroom 4, and I've been playing with the Book module, and I really like it Thanks in advance. Mike. |

EDIT: Just checked - very simple to merge documents, and once you've played around with the layout etc you can "lock" it so it automatically opens in that layout for others viewing it in Adobe Reader - or anything similar. |

| HowardJ Photographer Location United Kingdom Surrey | You can probably just create the book in MS word and save it as a PDF. see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/save-as-pdf-HA010064992.aspx for details |

| MikeDanby Photographer Location United Kingdom East Yorkshire Newport | Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I was after something a bit more permanent than a demo version of acrobat, but a lot cheaper than having to buy the full version. As for the option of using Word to create a book, it somewhat negates all of the advantages, ease of use, and time saving, of doing it with Lightroom. Thanks anyway, I'll carry on looking / experimenting with formats. Mike. |

| jimbo_kent Photographer Location United Kingdom Kent Gillingham | Why not look for a pdf printer like DoPDF, cute PDF, WinPDF etc? This sets up a virtual printer on your computer that you print to like a real printer from any program. use a well known search engine to look for "free pdf printer" HTH Jim |

| CSD_Images Photographer Location United Kingdom Grampian Aberdeen | To create professional PDF e-books ideally you'll want to invest in InDesign DTP package and also Acrobat, at this point it's probably better to buy one of the Creative Suites as you'll need Photoshop as well and/or Illustrator. I do a lot of publications through the above combination of software. Lightroom whilst easy won't allow for baselines, grids, kerning or anything else required for a professional result. It's tailored to creating coffee table books with minimal amounts of copy text. |
