I guess freebies are not always a good thing-and as for buying a video editing package...thats been bursting my nut for months with all the techie info surrounding the 5d 2 Why cant Canon give us their own dedicated software suite required when the camera is now designed with this option |

| HowardJ Photographer Location United Kingdom Surrey | Why cant Canon give us their own dedicated software suite required when the camera is now designed with this option because its an opportunity to make more money, so why give it for free? Apparently there is a free bit of canon software that lets you play it. They'll play in Canon's zoom browser which should have come with the camera and you download the latest version from canon.co.uk in the support section. |

| diipii Photographer Location United Kingdom Worcestershire | It might be worth noting that .MOV is a container for a file which can be variable in nature. iMovie refuses to accept it even though it produces .MOV files that can't then be reimported. Toast can convert it to other formats more compatible with editing software but if they are big files it takes a long time. | |

| photo3 Photographer Location United Kingdom Kent Rainham | If you've not yet got it sorted some software called Neoscene does a great conversion from MOV to AVI which then allows you to edit it in most PC software packages, even Windows Moviemaker. The Cineform website has a free 7 day trial you can use to test out the conversions. A very useful side benefit is that it makes the 5D2 MOV files play smoothly on a reasonable spec PC. Without conversion MOV files are very jerky and not smooth to play even on very high end kit as a result of the compression used. Editing Canon 5D2 MOV files on a PC |
