| paulford Photographer Location United Kingdom South Yorkshire Doncaster | Why are certain MPs complaining about Jimmy Carr "fiddling" his income tax? is it because he thought of it before them? |

| Alister Photographer Location United Kingdom Hampshire Farnborough | Can you imagine the furore that would occur if an MP was found to be doing this? The abuse that they would get (and got over expenses) from the likes of Carr. Jimmy Carr has been caught out as a massive hypocrite. Gary Barlow too uses it so there will be calls for his OBE to be withdrawn too. |

| RedChecker Photographer Location United Kingdom Buckinghamshire Stoke Mandeville | There's also the fact that expenses fiddling isn't quite as dodgy as income tax avoidance IMO if you sit back and think about it. Expenses fiddling is basically helping yourself to more than your fair share, any one of us could get caught out like this if we were in that position, but income tax avoidance is a determined effort to avoid paying your fair share of tax and for someone as wealthy as Carr, would be in the hundreds of thousands I'd imagine. | |

| mattharper Photographer Location United Kingdom Devon Paignton | Where does Lewis Hamilton live, where does Jensen Button live? Why do they live where they live? If one was to start closing loopholes, who will decide which ones to leave? As for MPs fiddling expenses being less of a crime than tax avoidance, what rubbish, one is legal, one isn't as it is theft. We are all such whingers, we moan about things like this but most will watch Jimmy Carr on TV or pay to see him. Everyone I meet moans about footballers' earnings, yet hundreds of thousands of people subscribe to SKY which is where a lot of their earnings come from. Until Joe Public vote with their feet, there will always be stories like this one. Don't pay to see Jimmy Carr, don't go to Premiership games and don't pay SKY. Of course, that is only if it bothers you. I am not defending Jimmy Carr or anyone else, there is always more to it and if you want to discuss the story, consider the bigger picture |

| paulford Photographer Location United Kingdom South Yorkshire Doncaster | Not exactly defending him but What would you or I do if earning the same sort of money he was? come on be honest if you can, get paid 100,000 a week and pay 40,000 in tax or get paid 100,000 and pay 2-3000 tax I know what I would do. |

| mph Photographer Location United Kingdom Cheshire Crewe | But Carr said he was "no longer involved" in the scheme and added that he "will in future conduct my financial affairs much more responsibly". He said: "I appreciate as a comedian, people will expect me to 'make light' of this situation, but I'm not going to in this statement as this is obviously a serious matter. "I met with a financial advisor and he said to me 'Do you want to pay less tax? It's totally legal'. "I said 'Yes'. "I now realise I've made a terrible error of judgement. Apologies to everyone." |

OK, we're only hearing about this because he's been found out, but to admit his foolishness, publicly apologize and give an assurance that he intends to set matters right raises him in my estimation (and I'm not a fan) - unlike so many others we've heard no wheedling, no whining, he's just tucked into an extra large helping of humble pie - be nice to see politicians and bankers follow suit. |

| paulbatterbury Photographer Location United Kingdom Derbyshire Derby | I would like to know just how much MP's and the PM get taxed and paid. I am pretty sure there are a few people connected to government or in it, who use the same loopholes. Being voted to represent the people of your country, is a privilege, you should not be doing it for the money, power or freebees. I bet they are over paid. I am pretty sure that pointing the finger in one direction, as the PM often does, is just to take the attention of something else he is doing... News International ring any bells (well only hacked ones), Jimmy Carr now seems pointless. Odd how 2 of the last 3 Prime Ministers have been called in by boards of enquire and crossed examined over trust and abuse of power, what does that tell you about the state of politics. |
