I was planning to get the train into Euston from Manchester but the fare is a bit steep so I thought I would drive down and park at a Tube station before catching a tube into London.
can anyone advvise me on where I could park my car at or near to a tube station ( and which one)?
I plan to watch the Marathon at Embankment and the race starts at 11 am so I really need a tube station that would be a good one for onward travel to Embankment
Thanks! John

Try http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/tubestationcarparks/default.aspx

or http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/large-print-tube-map.pdf (this map shows the tube stations with car parks and shows those on a line which goes directly through Embankment).  Somewhere out at the end of the Bakerloo line looks promising maybe Harrow & Wealdstone?

There's lots of them.  It really depends where you're planning to drive in to.

Another option is just park at a railway station car park, get into central London and then get on the tube.

You may need to watch out for car parks maximising their income from the Olympics.  For example, I drove up to Leatherhead to watch the cycle road race and discovered that the leisure centre car park was charging £15 for parking, whereas it's usually about £3.

You could drive down the M1 then find somewhere to park in North London and tube it.

Thanks for the speedy advice.
I am now thinking of travelling from Manchester down the M6 then onto the M1 ( or M40 not sure which would be best? ) then park at Harrow tube before getting the Bakerloo line into the City.
How does this sound as a plan? I wont have too much time so I need to be sure that i can park without any hitches as a Plan B would lose me time .I should add that I plan to take my son and his Gf for a meal afterwards so I might not be back in Harrow until the evening so a NCP car park with an hourly rate might be expensive!
Thanks john

Much of London has unrestricted parking on Sundays. You can park on the street.
If you are going to be there before 11 on Sunday morning I would park between warren street and tottenham court road. And catch northern line to embankment ( or walk)
Like any dealer he was watching for the card that is so high and wild he'll never need to deal another...

Thanks Neil
Im just wondering if normal Sunday parking will apply on the final day of the Olympics and given that I want to park for more than a few hours? Does anyone have experience of parking during the Games? Thanks

Theres a very large car park at Cockfosters that had modest charges three years ago. The M25 is only minutes away. Tube goes to Kings X and central London. So virtually no London driving.
I used it to get to Wembly and was amazed at the speed I crossed London.
A little help is worth a lot of sympathy.

Sounds good to me particularly as they'll more than the normal level of traffic coming out of London and you want to get back on to the M25 as quickly as possible.

I always park at Cockfosters for trips into London aswell, you dont have to worry about traffic at all.
