Bit off subject of modelling On subject of photography, Currently on holiday in Beijing, Some wonderful sights and sounds, Although some of the smells are not so wonderful. Strange how a hell of a lot of the internet is blocked but this site is available. Some really nice lady's walking round the streets in very expensive looking clothing, A lot of top designer clothing shops are in this area,(Wangfujing) pity I havn't got the balls to ask them to pose for me.

Lovely place for a holiday if you don't mind the 10 hour flight! Security a bit tight around some areas, And the food, Some strange things but you havn't had Chinese food until you have had Chinese food in China, It's very much the same as in England but better.

Would love to do a photo shoot in Beihei park but the problems and paperwork that would more than likely be needed would make it a nightmare.

Although Beijing and more particularly Shanghai are more westernised than the rest of China, there are still social etiquette rules to be aware of. Language is the first problem. English is mandatory in all schools but few get to use it, so conversation can be limited. Unless you are in a bar (where girls are looking for men), a Chinese speaking "go between" would be more helpful in approaching a prospective model. Even today "go betweens" are still used for setting up introductions, often accompanying a prospective couple on a first meeting for coffee or afternoon tea. Once a girl passes age 28 she becomes a sheng nu (left over girl) and friends and relatives set about seriously finding them a husband.

Most Chinese girls seem to be selfie crazy, so offering to help might open an opportunity.

I've never found a problem taking photos anywhere in China (avoiding obvious places). There are many beautiful parks where you will find wedding photographer teams setting up elaborate shoots complete with MUA, dresser and smoke machines. I've done several park shoots without incident (other than gaining an audience).

Yes seen the wedding photographers, They do seem to need an extraordinary number of "helpers", mainly around the parks close to the Forbidden palace, and have stood in the background and shot quite a few for my own port. Got three of them on here. took some this year might put some on later.

They all pre wedding shoot, they change outfits, a full day shoot, the package will include albums, a signing book, a slide show, few large poster print to display in the wedding reception.
a complete different with the UK market.

You could shoot, but just be careful.

Yes the package may well include an elaborate studio session where the couple can choose "themed" outfits from the studio wardrobe, (Bonnie and Clyde is popular) or they might choose a photoshop fantasy shoot.

In China there isn't actually a wedding as such. The marriage takes place at the marriage office which is more about producing the marriage books and paying the fee than a ceremony. The celebration may well take place in a restaurant on a different day. Brides often hire traditional western wedding dresses or traditional Chinese costumes and hope that they receive enough h├│ngbao (red envelopes containing money) to pay for it all

Regards to being careful I have been to Beijing for the last four years and stood at a respectful distance and taken quite a few pictures never had any complaints.
