Experience:
I have enjoyed running my own photography business for many years which has included: scientific, sport, commercial, documentary, weddings, portraiture, and press photography work. Most of my commercial work these days has tended to be in the areas of portraiture, in particular: performing arts, developing portfolios of inexperienced models, and website and advertising work. I also teach photography and graphics at a college.

Comments:
Even though I have an interest in all areas of portraiture, I currently have a particular interest in location work and this is something I would like to develop further. As you may perceive from just a few of the photographs on my portfolio, I am interested in the 'rawness' of my subjects, and trying to bring out their true character. To me, it does not matter what a model looks like, I just want to try to tell 'their story' through the photographs I take. Another recent interest has been in theatre, performance, music, and stage photography. Recent assignments have been to photograph a number of live stage musicals, photography for the portfolio of 2 professional opera singers, a CD cover for a blues singer/guitarist, publicity photographs for a country and western singer, and website photographs for a blues band. I do have a portable studio for my more 'posed' work. Much of my photography involves working with inexperienced subjects from the performing arts, and with models new to the modelling industry who want to develop their portfolios. My model’s safety, well being, and comfort are of paramount importance to me. I am very patient and respectful with all my models, and especially with inexperienced models who may be extremely nervous at the time of the photoshoot. I believe it is important to mentor the inexperienced models I work with as to potential problems that they may face in the modelling industry. The guidance I have given in the past has been gratefully received by more inexperienced models. I hold an enhanced CRB check certificate. I value any input from my models and welcome any ideas that they may have. This mutual co-operation invariably leads to better photographs. I regularly meet with my models before a photoshoot to discuss and share ideas. This has an added benefit in that both the model and I are more relaxed when it comes to the photoshoot. I do offer TFP/TFCD type work if it is of interest. Any photographs that I take for my models will be fully post processed as both high resolution images for printing and as low resolution images for the web. Well what can I say, Rob is very friendly and very easy to talk to. I had such a great time doing the shoot, he made me feel comfortable and relaxed. He gave me a spring in my step.
If you need any advise Rob if the person to go to. He is honest and very knowledgeable.
I would very much recommend him. You can laugh and have a joke with him and he looks after you very well. Thank you Rob :)

Rob is a wonderful photographer and made my first experience of shooting with a photographer that I wasn't already familiar with very very enjoyable. We met up to go over ideas in a location local to me, provided tea and lunch which I did not expect and made me feel very comfortable before driving me to the location and then making the other people who may be in the shot very comfortable as well. Rob was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and get along with.

Rob also made the extra effort to meet and talk to my partner who was apprehensive about me working with a previously total stranger and that really meant a lot both to my partner and to myself.

Rob is a very friendly, professional photographer who is easy to get along and collaborate with. He has excellent creative vision and I would happily work with him again. :)

First I met Rob one week before the shoot over the cup of coffee when we discuss what we are going to do and just talked on different topics. We had whole day of shooting on different locations, talked and walked a lot. I was well-looked after. Moreover, it was very enjoyable, at the end of the day I was not even tired!
Rob has nice personality, interesting topics to discuss, he is gallant, sociable and professional. And we are already discussing the next shoot together.

I had the opportunity of working with Rob in August. We had a location photo shoot while I also worked with another model CarolAdams on the same day we took many images in very different locations while at my stay in Portsmouth and he gave me a history lesson into the local area and made very well sure that I was looked after in while in his company.
I really enjoyed working with him and would love to work with Rob again saying this I would recommend Rob to all models.
